Dance Pointe Essex is thrilled to have a 100% pass rate within the school with the majority of our students gaining a distinction or merit. Children take exams in Imperial Ballet, Tap & Modern Theatre Dance following the ISTD syllabus.

 

The ISTD is one of the world’s leading dance examinations boards. Students progress through the grades from Primary through to Advanced 2 - developing skills and understanding of dance by gaining strong technique, and ability to comminicate through dance in an expressive and artistic way.

 

The Graded examinations build up progressively ensuring that steps and skills learned at lower levels prepare for more complex movements as the children progress to higher grades.  Studying all three genres - Imperial Ballet, Modern Theatre Dance and Tap Dance children are able to develop a broad base of dancing skills.  

 

The examination structure of the ISTD is designed to cater equally for those who wish to progress onto a career in dance either as a performer or dance teacher, or for those pursuing dance purely as a leisure activity.  ISTD dance examinations are accredited on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and counts as UCAS points needed when applying for University places.
