Classical Ballet, Tap & Jazz Dance

Seniors (12-16 years)

Our Senior students train in a variety of dance genres including Ballet & Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Acro and Contemporary.

Body conditioning and Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is also part of the training along with Pirouette and Leap Surgery.

Students can also attend Commercial Street to enchance their training.

Ballet - A repetoire of steps is built upon in Ballet classes, using the French terminology and learning how to execute technical ballet steps.  Repetoire is taught to inspire and learn about professional ballets and to develop performance and character skills.  Children further dvelop their pointe work.  Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is used as part of the weekly ballet class to build strength and correct alignment and technique.  (See below for further info on PBT.)

Tap - Clarity of beats and rhythm is further developed in weekly Tap classes.

Jazz - Children continue to master techniques such as pirouettes, kicks, leaps and turns.  Choreography is taugh to enable children to pick up routines quickly and develop further performance skills.

Acro - More advanced Acro and tumbling tricks are taught to challenge the children further and build on their strength, balance and flexibiity skills.

Contemporary/Lyrical - Lyrical and Contemporary dance are expressive styles of dance that helps the students to connect emotions with dance steps, resulting in a more connected and emotional performance.  Lyrical & Contemporary is an important dance style in today's professional industry.

Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is an innovative program designed to help students to understand the training of muscle memory in order to achieve their personal best in Classical Ballet.

Using a gym ball and resistance band, children begin to gain an understanding of different muscles groups and reinforces their technique and strength required for turn out and core stability.  Developed in Australia by an experienced ballet teacher the programme is currently practised in over 40 countries worldwide and has produced excellent results.

All Upper Juniors, Intermediates & Seniors do PBT as part of their weekly ballet class.
